Navigating your postpartum journey with guidance and support — Q&A with Robyn from Inner Mom Glow

A few weeks ago, I connected with Robyn from Inner Mom Glow through a mutual friend. Since then, I’ve been drawn to her relatable content (and podcast recommendations!) on Instagram.

As a mom of two toddlers who struggled with postpartum anxiety, she knows firsthand that navigating motherhood while having a new perception of balance can be challenging. Her experience led her to wanting to help other moms with their postpartum journeys. Read below to find out more.

Can you please tell us a bit about yourself and about Inner Mom Glow? What services do you provide with your newly launched coaching services?

Hi! I’m Robyn. I help Moms feel empowered and supported by offering them practical tools and strategies to navigate postpartum life.

I provide Moms with a safe space to explore what they are going through during 1:1 coaching sessions.

Working with a coach is working with a partner. Someone who understands you and guides you through the process of getting you from where you are now to where you ultimately want to be.

What inspired you to start this business?

My main motivation in starting this business was myself and my postpartum journey. The physical changes during pregnancy and postpartum are what I was expecting. But no one ever told me (or I just didn’t want to listen) that becoming a Mom would be completely amazing and utterly challenging at the same time. I lost a huge part of myself after having my first baby at 30 years old. I felt totally alone even though I had a beautiful baby girl clinging to me 24/7.

I went through a pretty bad period of postpartum anxiety. At the time, I didn’t know these feelings were common, and I felt like I didn’t have anyone to talk to. I was embarrassed and ashamed of how I was feeling.

I started Inner Mom Glow to help Moms feel supported, heard and validated during their postpartum journey. Postpartum doesn’t end after the first year I’m still going through it! It’s so important for Moms to know that they aren’t alone and there are support systems out there.

What advice would you give to a new mom who may be feeling lost with her new identity?

The biggest piece of advice I would give to a new Mom feeling lost with her new identity is that it is okay to grieve the loss of your old life and your old self. Two things can exist at the same time and both be true I love my baby, but this is not what I was expecting. Once you recognize those feelings, you can work on your new identity and how to embrace it, challenges and all.

Being a mom of two young kids, what does sleep look like for your family?

My daughters are two years apart, so I always feel like we are going through some kind of sleep regression in this house 😂

Sleep looks different for us every week. Through all the sleep regressions, toddler wake-ups and bad dreams, teething, sickness, you name it, I always remind myself these are just phases that will pass. It helps to remind myself that my daughter won’t always want me to come into her bed and cuddle, so I try to embrace and cherish it, tiredness and all. It is hard, but it is always worth it.
